How to Take Good Care of Your Muslin Items

Muslin is an incredibly soft and lightweight fabric perfect for baby’s gentle skin. Not only is it extremely easy to clean, the true beauty of muslin is that it gets softer and softer with each wash. This is what we like to call a “win win” situation. Below are a few tips on how to take good care of your Bundled Baby muslin items and extend their lifetime.

Machine Washing

It’s important to consecutively wash baby items to keep them clean and free of germs at all times. For best results, wash your muslin items only with other muslin items. However, we know parenting is busy and chaotic, and understand that only washing your muslin swaddles with other muslin items is probably unrealistic. This is totally okay, in this case we recommend you avoid washing your muslin items with any sharp items such as zippers that can end up poking and damaging the muslin. Use the same detergent you use to wash your baby’s clothes and place your muslin items into the washing machine. Wash them with cold water of about  30 °C on delicate. In terms of drying, we recommend tumble drying on low or hanging them to dry.

Hand Washing

Fill your washing basin or sink with warm water, then follow by adding 0.5 fl. Oz. of the same laundry detergent you use to wash your baby’s clothing. Submerge your muslin items into the water, mix the water and detergent and use your hands to gently agitate the items. If you see the water starts to turn a certain color, don’t worry. This is normal and won’t result in color loss of the item after washing. Leave the items soaking for an hour. Rinse the items in cold water until the soapy water is off the items. Press out the water and hang to dry or tumble dry in low.
